City of Coachella declares local emergency
Allows increased efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19
COACHELLA, Calif. (March 19, 2020) – As Director of Emergency Services, Coachella City Manager William Pattison has signed a Proclamation of Local Emergency to combat coronavirus (COVID-19).
This proclamation activates the city’s Emergency Operations Center at Management Watch Level. By closely monitoring directives from the State of California and Riverside County Department of Public Health, the City of Coachella will be able to quickly respond and take action as necessary to protect residents and help reduce the impact of coronavirus.
“The health and wellbeing of our residents is a priority,” says Coachella Mayor Steven Hernandez. “This measure allows us to take additional actions as necessary to protect the public health.”
In addition to offering increased capabilities to act on behalf of residents, the emergency declaration positions the city to be reimbursed by state and federal governments for expenses related to coronavirus response.
