- Operational and financial management
- Analyze public issues
- Conduct public hearings and study sessions for citizens
- Set policy through ordinances, resolutions, and motions
The City's programs and services are established by the adoption of the annual financial plan. New programs and services can only be approved by the City Council.

Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC)
City Councilmembers are elected officers identified in Government Code Section 87200 and file Statements of Economic Interests (Form 700s) with the City Clerk's Office. Copies of the Statements of Economic Interests filed by the above elected officers may be obtained by visiting the offices of the Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) or the City Clerk. Physical address of the FPPC is 1102 Q Street, Suite 3000, Sacramento, California 95811. City Clerk's Office is located at 1515 Sixth Street, Coachella, California 92260. The Statements of Economic Interests for some State and Local Government Agency elected officers may be available in electronic format on FPPC's website at www.fppc.ca.gov.
Council Meetings
The City Council meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the Month beginning at 6:00pm in the City Council Chambers, 1515 Sixth Street, Coachella, CA 92236. For meeting information, call 760-398-3502.
Intergovernmental Relations
The Mayor and City Council hold a number of special assignments and appointments to various boards and commissions dealing with other government agencies. Intergovernmental relations include state/county relations, the Vector Control District, the Coachella Valley Association of Governments (CVAG) the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG), the League of California Cities, and other local agencies.
Form 802 - Ceremonial Role Events and Ticket/Pass Distributions
This form is for use by all state and local government agencies. The form identifies persons that receive admission tickets and passes and describes the public purpose for the distribution. The City of Coachella has a ticket policy that can be downloaded through Resolution No. 2009-22 (Ticket Distribution Policy). Based on the City's Ticket Distribution Policy, each Form 802 will be kept online for 12 months.
Form 806 - Report of Public Official Appointments
The Fair Political Practices Commission (FPPC) requires each agency to post a Form 806 which reports additional compensation that officials receive when appointing themselves to positions on committees, boards or commissions of an intergovernmental public agency, special district, and joint power agency/authorities. Each agency must post a Form 806 listing all paid appointed positions including the date appointed, length of term and stipend amount received. (CA FPPC Reg. §18705.5)
The Form 806 will be amended when: 1) the number of scheduled meetings has changed; 2) there is a change in the compensation paid to the members; or 3) when the City Council makes a new appointment.
Maddy Act - Local Appointments List
Notice To The Public
In compliance with the requirements of the Maddy act, Government Code 54970, the following appointment list was posted prior to December 31. It shows all current members of City Commissions and Committees and the dates of their terms of office. Commissioners must be 18 years of age. Note: The names on this list are subject to change based on term expiration and resignations that occur during the year.
