The City of Coachella has prepared draft Objective Design Standards for multi-family residential development in the City that is available for public review until 5 p.m. Monday, May 22 and will be considered by the Planning Commission on Wednesday, June 7, 2023. State law under Senate Bill (SB) 35 and SB 330 requires new housing development to be reviewed again objective design standards. Objective design standards are defined in Government Code Sections 65913.4 and 66300(a)(7) as standards that:
“involve no personal or subjective judgment by a public official and are uniformly verifiable by reference to an external and uniform benchmark or criterion available and knowable by both the development applicant or proponent and the public official before submittal.”
Public meetings for the Draft Objective Standards will occur as follows:

- Tuesday, May 16, 10 a.m. Stakeholder Meetings, Coachella library, 1500 6th Street, Coachella CA 92236 Room 3
